Obuasi AshGold SC bounced back from their defeat to Kotoko to win against unbeaten Medeama SC at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi in week five fixture of GFA NC Special Cup.
Amos Addai registered the match opener on the 16 minute for the miners after Appiah McCarthy’s long pass located him for him to beat Medeama SC’s goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi before finding the back of the net.
The miners came close to scoring the second goal on the 22nd minute,but a great save from Eric Ofori Antwi denied Richard Ella Djodi’s strike.
Medeama SC bounced back strongly into the game with pressure to level the paring but AshGold SC made many clearances to hold on to the lead before the first half.
Both teams brought in fresh bloods to rise the tempo of the game high with the two sides creating decent chances in each’s half.
Richard Osei Agyeman and Awudu Tashiru were red carded in the second half for both teams with 26 minutes to full time.
Medeama SC nearly got the match equalizer on the 90th minute, but the goal post came to the rescue of the Miners.
Amos Addai’s first half goal grabbed the match winner for AshGold SC to win the maximum three points at home.
