Kumasi Asante Kotoko recorded it’s first away win in all CAF organized competition after six years.
C.K Akonnor and his players have made history in their Sunday away win over Cameroonian side Coton Sport at the Military Stadium.
Abdul Aziz Yusif’s 65th minute goal earned Asante Kotoko 1-0 away narrow win in Equatorial Guinea against Sony Ela Nguema in the 2013 CAF Champions league preliminary round which helped the Red and White family eliminate Sony Ela Nguema on 8:0 aggregate in the two legs to book their ticket to the first round.
Since them the Kumasi based club Kumasi Asante Kotoko have never won an away game in all competitions organized by Confederation of Africa Football.
Ghana’s sole representative Kumasi Asante Kotoko defeated their Cameroonian counterparts Coton Sport 3:2 in the first leg of the final play- off of the CAF Confederation Cup in Cameroon at the Military Stadium.
Emmanuel Gyamfi put the visitors in front in the 8th minute by latching onto Abdul Fatawu Safiu’s through pass to go one-on-one with the Coton Sport goalkeeper to slot into the middle of the net.
Maxwell Baakoh doubled the lead in the 30th minute with a cool finish into the left bottom corner after rounding up two markers.
Dauda Kamilo pulled one back for the hosts from the spot after Morrocan referee Samir Guezzaz’s controversial penalty call to Maxwell Baakoh’s tackle on an opposing player in the penalty box.
Fatawu Safiu restored the two-goal lead in the 50th minute by intercepting a pass from the Coton Sport goalkeeper to curl the ball into the far post before Guema Araina drew a consolation goal for the hosts in the 71st-minute with a half volley.
