Information gathered by Sportsnewsgh.com after the day one of the Ashanti Regional Inter Schools Soccer qualifiers at the Opoku Ware Senior High School park indicates that a supposed match fixing was played among two schools.

Three schools were paired in Group Five (5) to fight for a sole slot for the finale 32 schools  to participate in the tournament to be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium coming early December, 2018.

The OWASS center hosted  former champions Okess, Atwima Kwanwoma and Westphalian on the first day of qualification matches on Monday 12th November, 2018.

The match between Atwima Kwanwoma and Westphalian SHS was gathered to be a fixed one with the intention of denying OKESS the chance of topping the group and gaining qualification to the main event.

It was all play all among the three schools in the group.

Atwima Kwanwoma defeated OKESS by  a lone goal in the opening game. OKESS won their last game in the fixture against Westphalian SHS amassing three points with three goals to nil victory.

The result in the last game of the fixtures between Atwima Kwanwoma and Westphalian was to determine the winner of the Group and this was where the bizzare issue of match fixing scandal popped up.

Report gathered at the center indicated that the two schools, Atwima Kwanwoma and Westphalian SHS plotted a match of convince to help Westphalian SHS to qualify ahead of OKESS.

Before the first half Westphalian SHS was leading Atwima Kwanwoma two goals to one .

Early the second half spectators at the center trooped onto the field to stop play for some minutes. The two schools play on the field exhibited that there was some agreement among them.

The official ended the game with some minutes left to full time to play with Westphalian SHS defeating Atwima Kwanwoma by five goals to two.

OKESS eventually qualified with superior goal difference after all three schools secured 3 points.
