Ghana’s Paralympic athlete Patrick Yaw Obeng on the yardstick in which the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana use in selecting athletes for the London Championship.
He said this in an interview with Kumasi Based radio station ASHH FM. Yaw Obeng said ”As for the London thing you’re talking about, I don’t know whether we will be participating or not, because our current committee, and so-called “Secretary General” Mr. Eric and Peter, who I can’t tell whether is a messenger or administrator for the Sports Authority
The Committee in their on way have made it clear that Zenabu, Maclin, and Awudu a.k.a “Boy Wonder” will be chosen for the tournament, but we don’t know the criteria the used in selecting them.
They said two or three years ago, Awudu went for some qualifiers in Brazil event where he couldn’t even jump. Now, you are choosing him for the London event based on the same qualifiers.
So I doubt the criteria used to select the players. There are a lot of key players like myself (Yaw Obeng) and other medalists have not been selected for the competition, so we don’t even know what those selected are going to do because our committee is really not helping us
