Contrary to reports that, Kotoko will not honour the July 2, 2017 President Cup game against sworn rivals Hearts of Oak, the Management has confirmed that, the Porcupine Warriors will face the Phobians at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on the said date.
Newly appointed Coach Steven Polack in a radio interview has debunked suggestions that, the Porcupines are afraid of Hearts of Oak. He told Kessben FM’s mid-morning sports show that, Kotoko would be ready for Hearts and that there was nothing to fear.
The 2016/17 Premier League continues over the weekend with match day 19 fixtures which Asante Kotoko will host Wa All Stars at the Baba Yara on Saturday.
Kotoko will be seeking to chalk their first home win in the Premier League since Coach Steven Polack became Head Coach. The team hasn’t won at home in the league since their last victory over WAFA on match day seven.
Meanwhile, the former Kingfaisal and Berekum Chelsea coach is eying a heavy downfall of goals against the defending champions. Worried about his teams inability to score goals in rampant, Polack said ’’I can understand the frustrations on why we aren’t scoring goals. We have been creating chances, chances we shouldn’t be putting away but hopefully we will convert most in our next game’’.
Kotoko are 5th on the log with 26 points while Wa All Stars, who won the first leg encounter 1-0 in Wa, are 10th with 24 points.
