On Sunday February 12, the Porcupine Warriors Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be engaging the scientific soccer lads, Liberty Professionals at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Matches between these two side have always lived up to expectation and Sunday’s encounter will be no different.
Asante Kotoko have a new coach in the person of Zdravko Logarusic. The Croatian tactician will be hoping to impress the home fans in his first competitive match. Liberty will be coming into the game whipped up with the return of coach Silas Tetteh after they parted ways with George Lamptey who managed them last season.
Asante Kotoko’s new boys Kwame Boahen, Baba Mahama, Prince Acquah, Abass Mohammed, Yakubu Mohammed, Seth Opare, Awudu Nafui and others will be in line for their competitive debuts for their new club.
Evans Quao will be on the side lines after suffering an injury in training this week which will keep him out for six weeks. Michael Akuffo and Frank Sarfo Gyamfi are doubtful for this encounter. Leading marksman Dauda Mohammed of the Porcupine Warriors has also joined Belgian side RSC Anderlecht.
Liberty has lost their talismanic player and goal king of last season’s league Latif Blessing to Sporting City Kansas in the MLS but will be hoping for the likes of captain Samuel Sarfo, Gerald Arkson, Tamimu Muntari and Benjamin Eshun to come to the party against the Porcupines.
The Porcupine Warriors did the double over the Scientific Soccer Lads last season and hope to repeat it this term starting with another win but Liberty have always been tricky opponents for Kotoko and the Porcupines are fully aware of what the visiting team have in store.
Baba Yara Sports Stadium will light up come Sunday with good display of soccer. It is certainly one of the top liners of the matchday one. A thrilling and exciting contest will be displayed and that makes this match a must watch as it’s of a high magnitude.
