Match day four of the ongoing qualification round of the ASHANTI Regional Inter-schools soccer competition came off today at six centers with contrasting fortunes for participating schools. Seven schools confirmed their tickets to be part of the last round of 32 to be played at the Baba Yara Stadium.
There were some few casualties as EFFISCO failed to qualify as Manso Adubia pipped them to the sole ticket. Aduman SHS qualified ahead of Ejisu SECTEC whiles T. I. Amass qualified ahead of Jacobu. The biggest shock was however at Kumasi Girls where minnows St. Georges surpired KSTS, Toase SHS and GHANAMY to book a qualification ticket.
Islamic SHS booked their tickets ahead of Ghana Muslim Mission whereas last year losing finalist, Collins Commercial of Agogo managed to snatch the ticket from the hands of Achinakrom.
At Prempeh College grounds, Aduman SHS secured qualification through blood and sweat after overcoming some difficult opponents like Owerriman, Ejisu SECTEC and Tahweed.
At the end of proceedings;
Aduman 1:0 Owerriman
Ejisu SECTECH 0:1 Tahweed
Tahweed 1:2 Aduman
Owerriman 2:0 Ejisu SECTECH
Aduman 5:0 Ejisu SECTECH
Tahweed 0:1 Owerriman
Aduman qualifies with 9 PTS**
At Kumasi Academy venue, Islamic SHS battled Dompoase and Ghana Muslim Mission to secure qualification. Though Domposae SHS has given the clearest indication of lodging a protest against Islamic, the results still stands until otherwise determined by the protest committee.
Islamic 0:0 Dompoase (Islamic Wins 2:1 On Pen)
Islamic 2:0 Ghan Mus. Mission
Dompoase 2:0 Gha. Mus. Mission
At the KNUST SHS qualifying center, Juaben managed to secure qualification after amassing 9 points from the three games in a battle against the Saints.
Juaben 2:0 St. Jerome
St. Joseph’s 0:1 St. Francis
Juaben 2:1 St. Francis
St. Francis 2:1 St. Jerome
Juaben 1:0 St. Joseph’s
At Kumasi Girls Centre, underdogs St. Goerges managed to surprise everybody including themselves when they qualified against all odds after defeating favourites KSTS to secure qualificication. Though a very tough and unpredictable group, the new St. Georges were too good for KSTS and others.
GHANAMY 0:2 KSTS
St. GEORGES 1:0 TOSS
TOSS 1:0 KSTS
GEORGES 2:1 KSTS
TOSS 0:1 ST. GEORGES
GEORGES QUALIFIES WITH 9 PTS**
AT the Armed Forces SHS grounds today, T. I. Ahmadiyya scooped all 9 PTS available through the hands of Jacobu, Supreme and Bosome Freho after winning all three matches.
Though it wasn’t as easy as it looks on paper, the best sports school in Ashanti proved too superior for the others when they were buoyed on by the presence of their Black Starlets player Faisal, newly transferred former ASTEC P.E. Master, Alhaji and the entertaining Baby Joe. The many Amass students present obviously gave a lot of motivation to Amass. At the close of proceedings;
Amass 1:0 Supreme
Bosome Freho 1:0 Jacobu SECTEC
Amass 2:0 Bosome Freho
Supreme 0:5 Bosome Freho
Jacobu 1:0 Supreme
Amass 2:0 Jacobu
Amass 1:0 Jacobu**
Amass qualified with 9 PTS
At KASS qualifying venue, Manso Adubia had to dig deep to secure qualification in the final match with EFFISCO who were hoping to surprise Adubia but a last minute goal for Manso Adubia was enough at KASS venue. Close of results revealed;
Manso Adubia beat EFFISCO in the decider. The two teams have earlier beaten their other two opponests Komfo Anokye (KAHIS) and Mabang to set up an enthralling encounter in which Manso Adubia won 1:0.
