THE national female hockey team, Black Sticks Ladies, have moved up to 28th position in the latest rankings released by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). We’ll need $600k to replace Hockey turf – Akpokavi

The president of the Ghana Hockey Association Richard Akpokavi says government will need over $600,000 to change the turf at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium. Despite the fast deteriorating state of the pitch, the Black Sticks’ male and female sides have all qualified for the round two of FIH World Hockey league this year in Bangladesh Spain respectively. The Ghana male hockey team defeated Nigeria to win the Hockey World League Round 1 tournament held at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra. Ghana to host world hockey qualifiers

From September 9 Ghana will host male and female hockey teams from Kenya, Nigeria, and Namibia at the Theodosia Okoh Stadium in Accra to determine which teams will make it to the next stage of qualifiers for the hockey world cup in 2018.
