A group of persons with disability with the name Para Sports Ambassadors ( PaSA) is calling on the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Pius Enam Hadzide and the Executive Board of both the national Paralympics committee (NPC ) and the Ghana Wheelchair basketball federation ( GWBF ) to voluntarily resign from their respective positions should the Ghana National Wheelchair Basketball Male Team ( The Black Chariots ) fail to participate in the upcoming African championship in South Africa from the 16th November – 26 November 2017.
According to Mr Isaac Mensah Osei, the convener of the group ,from a reliable source is of the view that they have taken notice of the saga in which the Black Chariots have raised concerns with regards to their participation in the African championship which he see as not a too pleasant situation which their brothers need not to find their self because the championship serves as a great platform for the players in many ways.
The group is of the view that up till now the Executives of GWBF are not in the position to tell them anything concrete with regards to the team’s participation but rather all the time the Secretary General of the GWBF keep asking the concerned people to be calm and they hope the best will come out of dialogue. He is quoted as saying “We want to state here that we are tired of been ask to remain calm but rather want to point it to The Secretary General of the GWBF in the person of Wilson Agbesi that we can’t hold on such sweet talks again but rather asking him to come clear and make it known to us what is the situation at hand and tell us if the Team will be able to make it to the championship”.
Furthermore we want to make it clear that we are very previewed to the fact that the Hon Deputy Minister of Sports seems not to be in favour of Para sports and is strategically trying his best to frustrate the team which both the Executives of the GWBF and the NPC are covering up without want to bring it to the public domain .
He cautions, We want to send a word of signal to the Executive Board of the GWBF to within 48 hours bring to our notice if the team will be able to make it to the championship , but on the other hand if the Team is not able to make it to the championship then we will appeal to the Deputy Sports Minister , The Executives Board of both the GWBF and the NPC to resign because they have failed the disability movement, but failure to resign and we can assure them of using every possible means which will be law abiding to get them to resign, it is only then that Para Sports can see the light of life in this country,he concluded.
